Top Tips for Long Lasting Makeup

Something that many people struggle with when it comes to makeup is how to make it last. Depending on products and skin type makeup will last differently on different people. Here are my top 4 tips to keep your makeup looking perfect for as long as possible.

Primer : face and eye
 - The importance of this step is huge! If you don't use a primer you should start! Not only does it make your makeup go on smoother, look better but it also makes gives your base makeup something to adhere to meaning it'll last longer. Eye primers are especially good as, even if you're eye makeup lasts relatively okay without one, a primer will make your eyeshadows seem even more pigmented and will make them easier to blend. I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden.

Light layers
- Wearing a thick layer or foundation will not make it stay on longer or give you better coverage. The best thing to do is work in light layers, by this I mean applying a thin layer of foundation and then a light layer of concealer where you need extra coverage and if you want more foundation in some areas just apply it in the areas you need it the most not everywhere.

Set concealer and T-zone with a powder
- Not everyone likes powder but there are so many on the market and not all of them give you that ultra matte flat look to your skin, there are some which look very natural (for example the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder or the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals). Set under your eyes (as this is prone to creasing) and your eyelid if you have applied concealer over them and no eyeshadow, and any other areas that  you have applied concealer. I also powder lightly down my T-Zone and chin (forehead, nose and slightly on my cheeks) as thats where makeup starts to break down on me the most.

Makeup Setting Spray
- This isn't essential but for very long days where you need your makeup to last, special occasions or events where you know you will be photographed then a makeup setting spray is such a life saver.
It helps to lock your makeup into place without making you look cakey or powdery. It refreshes your makeup and makes it last longer! The Urban Decay ones are great - I love the All Nighter Setting Spray, which is specially formulated to make your makeup last longer.
